A picnic is a classic date for a very good reason! There’s not much that beats eating al fresco with the breeze in your hair, sun on your skin, a selection of delicious snacks whilst gazing into the eyes of somebody who makes your heart skip a beat.
Picnics can be super romantic as there’s something just liberating about being in the outdoors together and if you can make it a no phone zone (except for the odd photo of course), it’s a time where you can really connect with no distractions. Along with being a great date choice, it’s also a really fun day to plan with your friends; with maybe a little more drinking involved.

Where to go
A picnic can really take place anywhere! If you want to make it an more of an occasion spend some time Googling spots near you. Some ideas to look for are; a beautiful beach or clifftop, a hidden Forrest, beside a lake, on a rowboat, in a lavender field, go for a bike ride with a backpack and find a spot en route. Or you don’t have to be fancy with it and you can have your picnic at your local park or even in your garden.
I’d suggest planning the picnic for the afternoon to avoid melting in the sun (and get that good lighting) or change it up and go for a sunrise breakfast picnic.

What to eat
Without a doubt, the pinnacle part of the picnic is the food (say that fast a few times lol). I love going to the supermarket (usually M&S) and grabbing a selection of my favourite bits to graze. This time, however, I decided to try this amazing new catering company – Mother Supper. They have the MOST incredible selection of hampers that are perfect for picnics, hosting a get-together or as a gift.
I went for the incogmeato hamper, ideal for 2 people. It came with:
4 Mini Sandwiches
Mozzarella & Pesto Dressing | Cheddar & Tomato Jam | Hummus & Roasted Peppers
A Choice of 3 Sides
Feta, Sweet Potato & Spinach Rolls | Greek Salad | Roast Beetroot & Goats Cheese Salad | Hummus & Crudités | Guacamole & Crudités
2 Sweet treats
Mini Lemon Drizzle | Triple Chocolate Brownie
2 Bottles of Homemade Lemonade

I have to say it was DELICIOUS – the food was so fresh & tasty. It saved me time and was all nicely packed in a box that meant it was easy to take with me. They have lots of amazing choices, so you can find the perfect hamper for you. I’ve got my eye on the breakfast in bed hamper, so I’m going to have to try that next. I’ll leave their website link below if you’re interested.

What to bring
I’ve made a checklist for you, for all the essentials needed for the Perfect Picnic.

For drinks, I like to pre-make my favourite cocktails in a flask and then pour them as needed or you can buy pre-made cocktails in cans or simply bring your favourite bottle of wine (don’t forget the bottle opener). I added speakers to the checklist as it’s nice to sometimes have some background music to enjoy.
Top tip: Check for the nearest restrooms or go before you set off! I always seem to forget something, so make sure you read your list and check it twice and then you’re good to go 😉 Enjoy!
